Called Meeting
The Stephens County Board of Commissioners held a Called Meeting, Monday, February 27, 2006 at 1:00 p.m... In attendance was Commissioners Steve Chitwood, Kenneth Peeples and Rex Anderson, Sheriff Gene Sorrells, Darrell Hampton, County Administrator and Phyllis Ayers, Finance Director.
Commissioner Chitwood called the meeting to order.
Commissioner Chitwood welcomed those in attendance.
Commissioner Chitwood called for a motion to approve the agenda. Commissioner Peeples requested that the agenda be amended by adding a second item of business to the agenda. Commissioner Peeples requested that time for the March 7, 2006 be changed from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. to accommodate out of town travel by Commissioners and Staff. Commissioner Anderson made a motion to approve the agenda as amended; Commissioner Peeples seconded the motion, the motion was unanimously approved.
The first item of business was to consider a motion changing the time of the March 7, 2006 regular meeting from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.. Commissioner Peeples made a motion changing the time of the March 7th meeting as noted, Commissioner Anderson seconded the motion, the motion was unanimously approved.
The next item on the agenda was to gather information from two teams regarding the design and construction of the new County Jail. The Commission met first with representatives of Pieper, O’Brien, Herr and Turner Construction Company and then with Clemons, Rutherford & Associates and Peter Brown Construction. During both sessions the Commissioners asked questions regarding jail design and construction; the respective firms responded to these questions and provided information regarding the overall jail design and construction process. No formal action was taken on this matter.
They’re being no other business to come before the Commissioner the meeting was adjourned at 4:05 p.m.
